A Caregiver under the Medical Marijuana or Cannabis Acts (MMA or MCA) is someone who is assigned to assist a Medical Marijuana Patient in growing their plants, obtaining their medicine and educating them on the different methods of ingesting medical cannabis.
A caregiver should always spend time with their patient when first beginning the use of medical Cannabis. It is very important to work with them on their dosage especially when starting them out on Cannabis oils or medibles due to their concentrated form. Caregivers should strive to ensure that medicinal cannabis is safe for human consumption and truly of medicinal quality.
“The MMMA defines a “Primary Caregiver” as a person who is at least 21 years old and who has agreed to assist with a patient’s medical use of marihuana and who has never been convicted of an assaultive or drug related felony or any felony in the past 10 years. Therefore, the qualifying patient (applicant or registrant) and you must complete a “Caregiver Attestation” to be submitted by the qualifying patient.”
